The lively town centre has a charming Andalusian style, as well as a historic church and a picturesque plaza. Here we can find all types of services and amenities, as well as pedestrian boulevards with cafes and restaurants. In 2012 the stretch of the motorway passing through the town went underground, thanks to the construction of the San Pedro tunnel. Now local residents benefit from a park without any road noise, as well as direct walking access to the beach. Another interesting characteristic of San Pedro is that each year it is the last town in Andalusia to host the annual fair or “feria” (Seville being the first one in Spring), so every October one can expect to see traditional cultural events and a real party environment.
In San Pedro playa we find wide sandy beaches and a pedestrian promenade, lined by mature palm trees and offering a wide variety of restaurants. In fact, this area is rumoured to have the oldest “chiringuito” or beachside restaurant in Spain. Here there are historical landmarks by the sea, such as the ruins of a paleochristian church and Roman baths.
In terms of neighbourhoods, San Pedro playa has various gated developments with upmarket holiday apartments, as well as numerous detached villas, many with a true Spanish style.
